Samskriti Foundation is a non profit organization committed to making the traditional performing arts of India, primarily classical music and dance, more accessible to the community, presenting them in superior quality performances and imparting the education required to practice, appreciate and experience them.
We strive to enrich the cultural life of the community by presenting dance and music performances by both US based and visiting artists. The foundation also preserves and propagates traditional Indian art forms through regular classes and summer camps. The Foundation has recently launched a new initiative to reach out to 'children with special needs.' Music and creative movement programs have been created to include the children as part of the performance in a fun and friendly environment. The events are currently being hosted by various parents at their homes, but Samskriti would like to be able to host this in public spaces where there would be a bigger involvement from the community. Your support helps us to create new programs for the new initiative, commissioning new music, creating high quality educational materials for students, choreography for new productions, costumes for upcoming work, renting auditoriums for student showcases, to name a few. Samskriti Programs, Advisory, and Resource Committee (SPARC) is a body formed by the foundation to bring together arts connoisseurs, Samskriti students, parents of students, and all our well-wishers in the community who will encourage and help us in our efforts to spread the joy of Indian music and dance. We welcome you to be a part of the Samskriti family and help us in this endeavor.
SPARC members will have the opportunity to volunteer their time, talents, and resources across a variety of areas. The area can be chosen according to the volunteer's area of expertise and contacts. Volunteers are very crucial to the Foundation as well as for a successful event. The areas you could volunteer for range from marketing, grant writing to costume sewing, hair & make-up. Please consider donating your time to us and help us with our goal of giving the community the gift of music and dance. |
